Hawaii is now home to one of the world’s least sensible Subaru WRX builds

Many drivers only need a bare minimum of customization to meet their expectations, but some feel that overpowering need to stick out in traffic like a sore thumb, for better or worse. Here comes one of the more outrageous cases.

Aquilla, the owner of this Subaru BRZ, drew inspiration from as many as three Japanese car tuning subcultures at once. The near-zero clearance and stretched tires are typical shakotan, the insane negative camber is onikyan, and the massive front splitter accompanied by grotesque exhaust pipes protruding from the back like rebar are bosozoku.

Here are a few numbers to consider: the coupe has 25 mm (1 inch) of ground clearance and rear tires 13 inches (330 mm) wide. Aquilla is the first one to admit that driving it is every bit as painful as your intuition suggests. Making a sharp turn, for one, is downright impossible due to wheels scraping the body. Oh, and forget about springs. The suspension has pucks in their place, because using actual springs would destroy the bumpers and arches at their very first contraction.

The owner says he is getting plenty of hate for his clunky ride daily, but feels happy with it and will not be changing anything anytime soon.
