Subaru Forester gets a new turbo option in Japan

The latest 2018 Subaru Forester gets a new engine on its domestic market, specifically a 1.8-liter turbocharged mill good for 177 hp (132 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. The new spec fills the gap left by the 2.5-liter non-turbo rated at 185 hp (138 kW).

The opposite-cylinder unit bears the designation ‘CB18’ and comes paired with a Lineartronic CVT, as well as an on-demand AWD system with the coupling on the rear axle. The same engine previously debuted with the second-gen Subaru Levorg.

According to the manufacturer, the mixed-cycle fuel consumption of the CB18 amounts to 7.3 liters per 100 kilometers covered (UK: 38 MPG; USA: 32 MPG). Prices start from 2,915,000 JPY (27,840 USD at the time of writing).
