Video: Subaru Forester passes the moose test with flying colors

Our colleagues from Spain decided to check just how well the Subaru Forester would perform in the so-called moose test, where the car is supposed to dodge a sudden obstacle at high speed. The result was quite enlightening.

A 2019-model-year Forester Hybrid was used for the test. The car had a 2.0-liter gasoline engine worth 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW), a CVT for transmission and AWD. It was driven down a racetrack with traffic cones arranged on it so that you could slalom your way past them without hitting any.

Generally, the moose test is considered a success if the car hits zero obstacles going at 77 km/h (48 mph) or faster. This is exactly how fast the Forester was able to go, thus coming out ahead of the Kia e-Soul, the Volkswagen Golf Mk8, the BMW M235i, and even the Jaguar I-Pace.
