An unknown person driving a rental Tesla Model S launched it into the air and ended up slamming into Jordan Hook’s Subaru Forester, damaging both cars and fleeing the scene. The news received a wide coverage, and Hook decided to try making a profit off it.
According to reports, an unknown person suspected to be a TikTok influencer rented a Model S, took a run-up on a street in LA and sent the electric car flying over a small hill without bothering to check what was on the other side. Numerous witnesses gathered around to film the stunt on their mobile phones.
However, things quickly went pear-shaped as he apparently went too enthusiastic on the accelerator, flying farther and falling much harder than expected. The Tesla struck sparks as it touched down and rammed into a Subaru Forester, totaling both. The perpetrator fled the scene. The police is now offering $1,000 for any information that could help them locate him.
Jordan Hook responded with a video where he said the Forester was his only means of transportation. It did not help at all that he paid $5,000 for an engine swap not long before the incident. He launched a crowdfunding campaign hoping to get $20,000 to buy a new car, and managed to get around $22,000.
A new Subaru Forester starts from $25,400 in the USA before taxes, so throwing in just a little extra cash will enable Hook to buy a new SUV to drive instead of his old one.
