2020 Subaru Impreza facelift now available in the USA

The fifth and latest generation of the Subaru Impreza came out in 2016 and received an update in Japan a couple months ago (see video). The U.S. version is coming up now with some changes in available transmissions.

Aside from the subtle design alterations, the refresh brings along new wheels, revised trim levels, and a new paint option (Ocean Blue Pearl). As far as looks are concerned, the car appears identical to its Japanese sibling. The main difference is in the tech: the U.S.-born 2020 Subaru Impreza ships with a five-speed manual transmission by default, while CVT is a paid option. The sedan/saloon becomes CVT-only starting from the second trim level, while the hatchback can be manual in the Basic and Sport trims. All CVT trims additionally get the latest Subaru EyeSight safety package.

Regardless of your choices, the new Impreza comes with a four-wheel drive system attached to a 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated, opposite-four engine rated at 154 hp (115 kW) and 196 Nm (145 pound-feet) of torque.
