A year after facelifting the Impreza family, Subaru has launched a few new variants of the Impreza five-door hatchback.
Customers may now opt for the same hybrid powertrain that the Subaru XV and Forester come equipped with. It includes a naturally aspirated, two-liter, opposite-cylinder engine de-boosted by 9 hp / 7 kW to 145 hp (108 kW), as well as a single electric motor rated at 14 hp (10 kW) and 65 Nm (48 lb-ft). The drive is on both axles by default.
And then there is the range-topping trim called STI Sport. It retains the 154-hp (114-kW) two-liter ngine of its predecessor and uses CVT for transmission. Technical upgrades boil down to adaptive shocks and readjusted suspension.
On the outside, the STI Sport boasts 18-inch wheels and black décor, while the cabin makes use of bi-color seats and red accents. The drive can be on the front axle or both.
The new Impreza hybrid starts from U.S. $24,000, and the STI Sport lies $1,000 above that.
