The Prodrive P25 is a modern Subaru 22B reincarnated for just under £0.5M

The Subaru Impreza 22B enjoyed a legendary status back in the late 1990s (see video) and still manages to excite its numerous fans. Only 424 units was built in total, but Prodrive decided to revive the series with the announcement of the P25 continuation model in May. Here are all the details (well, most of them).

The P25 comes based on the original Subaru Impreza chassis with most of the exterior bodywork made from carbon fiber. This includes a large WRC rear wing, too. The interior makes intensive use of carbon and benefits from lightweight seats. Prodrive does not provide any exact weight numbers, but claims the whole car comes in under 1,200 kilograms (2,645 pounds).

Powering the ride is a 2.5-liter flat-four engine with an upgraded turbocharger driving it to 405 PS (400 hp / 299 kW). A six-speed sequential transmission drives all four wheels and lets you switchgears using paddle shifters under the wheel. Sprinting from nothing to 100 km/h (62 mph) only takes 3.5 seconds.

There are no cabin photos yet, but the company promises us an authentic-looking design awash with carbon fiber, leather and Alcantara. The dashboard comes equipped with a large high-definition display and a data recorder.

Only 25 units will be made and offered starting from a cool £460,000.
