Prodrive has been a Subaru partner for many years, including in rally championships. Now, the company has posted a teaser image announcing a new car reveal on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
The rear wing and the hood air intake both look like those of the Impreza WRX from the 1990s. Note also the b-pillar, which is positioned so as to suggest a coupe body style.
Another interesting detail can be guessed from the name of the car, Prodrive P25. The ‘P’ most likely stands for ‘Prodrive’, while 25 could be referencing a quarter-year anniversary. Back in 1997 and 1998, Subaru won a handful of awards and titles at the WRC series, most notably thanks to its legendary Impreza 22B STI model (see video).
Considering the above, everything points to this new car being a spiritual successor of sorts to the iconic 22B STI. It remains to be seen whether it will be a restomod or something else.
