Subaru Levorg debuts in Tokyo

A pre-production copy of the next-gen Subaru Levorg has made an appearance at the just-opened Tokyo Motor Show 2019. Knowing Subaru, the final production car will likely look the same as the show specimen.

Compared to the current-gen Levorg, the newcomer hasn’t changed much at all, despite the company insisting on calling it ‘a new car altogether’. Perhaps most of the novelty resides in the tech department, since the new generation comes based on the Subaru Global platform of the latest Impreza, Legacy and Ascent.

Judging by the completely blacked-out windows, the Japanese carmaker isn’t ready to show us the interior yet. It is reported that the series will ship with the next-gen EyeSight safety system, which includes a wide-angle stereoscopic video camera and four radars covering the entire circumference of the vehicle.

The company also mentioned that the 2020 Subaru Levorg would ship with a newly designed 1.8-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine. Its power and torque will be disclosed later.

The update will reach the market in the second half of 2020.
