Subaru WRX teased day ahead of reveal

The next-gen Subaru WRX is getting ready to rumble, and the latest teaser video gives us an idea of what to expect.

Most of the scenes were shot from a distance, but there is one fleeting moment where the car zaps right past the camera. Pause the video there, and you will see the profile of the new WRX in its full glory. Apparently, the new iteration has calmer, smoother body outlines.

Also shown in the video is a manual gearbox, a joyous sight for many classical car fans. In all likelihood, the company will mate it with the 2.4-liter Subaru FA24 turbo engine existing in versions up to 263 PS (259 hp / 193 kW) strong. In fact, we expect the new WRX to squeeze around 300 PS out of this engine. Then again, the upcoming WRX STI should prove even stronger with 400 horsepower or so.

Unless plans have changed, the Japanese automaker will be revealing the sports car tomorrow, August 19.
