Subaru to unveil the WRX TR on October 7

Subaru will be introducing the most extreme version of its WRX sports car so far at the upcoming Subiefest Florida on next Saturday, October 7. The only teaser available so far focuses on the wheel.

The image shows a red brake caliper from Brembo and a part of a grey alloy wheel sporting an intricate spoke pattern. A similar design was worn by an early Subaru prototype caught on camera in early May – check out the rest of the gallery to find it. Note also the unpainted fender flares.

The reveal event next week will be attended by star driver and motorcyclist Travis Pastrana and American skateboarder and rallycross pro Bucky Lasek. For the time being, the automaker promises us a vehicle with ‘sharper-handling’ that’s more ‘enthusiast-focused’.

The latest Subaru WRX generation (see video) came out a few years ago and used a 2.4-liter flat-four turbo to deliver 271 PS (267 hp / 199 kW) to all four wheels. Buyers could choose between six-speed manual and CVT for transmission.
