The next-gen Subaru Crosstrek has debuted in Japan. The car will go on sale next year as a 2.0-liter AWD hybrid with no other drivetrain options.
The detailed specifications aren’t there yet, but we know that the car uses an improved version of the SGP platform. It is still about the same size as before at 4,480 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,580 mm tall with 2,670 mm of wheelbase and 200 mm of ground clearance.
For the first time on record, the Crosstrek gets LED headlights that swivel around to illuminate turns. Other than that, the exterior is recognizable and not much different. Inside, an 11.6-inch infotainment screen sits vertically, and there is still no digital dashboard – not even as a paid option.
From the technical perspective, the car now supports improved electric power steering and a revised range of safety systems now including an extra video camera mounted beside the rearview mirror to better detect traffic signs, cyclists and pedestrians.
