Original Shelby Cobra cars cost a fortune nowadays, meaning only rich collectors can hope to own one. Superformance has an interesting alternative going with its officially licensed replica running on Tesla power, though.
The body is all custom and very close to the original. 18-inch alloys sit in the arches with Nitto tires wrapped around them, and there are plentiful chrome accents all around. A miniature rearview mirror sits on the front left fender, while the right fender lacks anything of the kind.
The tech is all modern, of course. Wilwood brakes on both axles are power-assisted, and all wheels are suspended individually. The most obvious change from the original is the lack of visible exhaust sidepipes.
This is because the replica runs on a Tesla Model S P100D motor capable of 600+ horsepower (450+ kilowatts, no specifics given) and a mountain-moving 2,034 Nm (1,500 lb-ft) of torque. The latter gets dialed down to make the car drivable.
A custom traction battery stores up to 32 kilowatt-hours of power, translating into a driving range of 100 miles, or 161 kilometers.
Prices start from $190,000 USD, and the car currently on sale comes bundled with a Shelby E-Bike, an electric bicycle styled to match the car perfectly.
