Suzuki has reported making over 30 million vehicles at its factories in India.
It took the company 40 years and 4 months to get here since launching the production. It all started with the Suzuki Maruti 800, a small and affordable hatchback for the local market. In Japan, Suzuki has already reached the same milestone, but took 55 years and 2 months getting there.
The Alto hatchback (see the gallery and the video) was the biggest contribution to the production volume, its various generations adding up to 5.06 million units. Suzuki Swift ranked second with 3.19 million units and Wagon R ranked third with 3.18 million.
The automaker currently has three industrial complexes in India capable of churning out up to 2.25 million vehicles every year. By 2030, the company hopes to boost the capacity to 4 million per year.
