Maruti Suzuki has officially introduced the restyled Ciaz sedan series in India. The car now takes advantage of a new engine and some premium options.
The refreshed Maruti Suzuki Ciaz can be purchased with a 1.5L gasoline engine marked “K15B” and capable of slightly over 100 hp (75 kW) and 140 Nm (103 lb·ft) of torque. It works in conjunction with a starter-generator which helps recover some energy during deceleration. The old 1.4L naturally-aspirated engine with 92 hp (69 kW) and the turbocharged diesel with 90 hp (68 kW) are still available as well. Transmission choices are restricted to 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.
The top trim version now comes with the following additional features: LED lighting, 16” alloy wheels, and lots of chrome-coated parts in the vehicle front. On the inside, there are decorative elements made of imitation wood, a safety belt warning system and a speeding alarm. There is also a parking assistant, albeit the only sensors the car has are located in its rear part.
The base version ships with two airbags and an anti-skid system.
The mild-hybrid sedan series ships at U.S. $11,800 and above. Regular versions are available at lower prices.
