Suzuki Jimny aspires to be a hardcore SUV and a pickup truck

Suzuki has announced earlier today that it would be coming to the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon with two concept vehicles based on the current-gen Jimny compact. One of these is a pickup truck, while the other one is a heavy-duty off-road monster.

The Sierra Pickup Style trim boasts a two-passenger cabin and a modest-sized truck bed. It also sports a custom front bumper with towing eyes, a new radiator grille, wooden side trim and a roof-mounted light bar.

The Survive, on the other hand, is a hardcore trim intended for conquering extreme off-road conditions. To that purpose, it comes with heavy-duty protection plates covering the front bumper, the underbody and the side skirts. There are also dedicated sand tracks, a winch and beadlock protection for the tires. The rear seat row is gone, and there is an equipment & gear storage area in its place.

Whether any of the concept cars will ever make it into mass production is still undecided, but we will absolutely love it if they do.
