Suzuki Motor Company is working on a five-door version of its Jimny SUV specifically for the Indian market. The car may debut in the second half of the year, although this remains speculative.
Despite the new body design, the India-spec Jimny will continue to be under 4 meters long with only 2.5 meters of wheelbase, because smaller cars are eligible for tax deductions in the country. Compared side-by-side to its three-door counterpart (see the gallery and the video), the new Jimny will be just about 35 cm longer and have 25 cm more wheelbase. The powertrains will also most likely stay the same.
The fourth-gen Suzuki Jimny emerged in the summer of 2018. It shipped with a choice between two engines: R06 (0.66L, 64 hp / 48 kW) and K15B (1.5L, 102 hp / 76 kW). Transmission included five-speed manual and four-speed automatic, and part-time AWD was standard in all specifications.
