Japanese media claim that the Jimny mini-SUV for Europe will ship with an all-new powertrain due to its standard one being incompatible with the emission standards.
One version holds that the off-roader will get Swift Sport’s 1.4-liter turbocharged four-pot rated at 129 PS (127 hp / 95 kW) and assisted by a 48V starter/generator.
Another one speculates that the Jimny for Europe may wind up with the THS-II powertrain of the Toyota Yaris Hybrid, which revolves around a 1.5-liter three-cylinder.
None of this is official yet. The Suzuki Jimny is currently only available in the Old World countries as a light commercial vehicle and not a crossover/SUV.
