Rumors that Toyota was preparing to launch a slightly retouched version of the best-selling mini-SUV Suzuki Vitara Brezza started in 2018. Now, multiple sources have reported that the premiere will take place in April.
The original Suzuki Vitara Brezza (shown in the video) is hugely popular among customers in India and regularly tops the best-selling SUV list. It remains to be seen whether Toyota’s rendition of the model – which will reportedly be only slightly different in terms of design and identical in terms of tech – proves as successful.
The rebadged SUV will sport different radiator grille, bumpers, badges (naturally), and more premium features. The latter will include power windows, an advanced infotainment system with a touchscreen display, four airbags, and 16-inch alloy wheels.
The car is expected to ship with its standard 1.3-liter turbo diesel engine rated at 90 hp (67 kW), obtainable with five-speed manual and semi-automatic transmission types.
The Suzuki Vitara Brezza starts from 767,000 Rupees (ca. 10,750 USD) on its domestic market; the Toyota twin will likely be slightly more expensive than that.
