Swiss students break Guinness record with an EV going 0-100 km/h in under 1 second

A team of students from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and ETH Zurich has built an all-electric racecar called Mythen that managed to set a new world record in straight-line acceleration among electric vehicles, zapping from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 0.956 seconds.

The Mythen consists of aluminum and carbon fiber and weighs as little as 140 kilos (309 lbs). Its four motorized wheels produce a combined 326 PS (322 hp / 240 kW), resulting in an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 2.3 horsepower per kilogram.

According to the team, the biggest challenge was to ensure adequate traction throughout the entire acceleration. Once the car had the road in firm grip, it hit 100 km/h in 0.956 seconds. The result will be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
