Marvel at the Talbot-Lago, a unique 85-year-old coupe worth $10M+

Coachbuilder Figoni et Falaschi made two vehicles known as the Talbot Lago 150-C-SS Teardrop Coupe, but the example set to go on sale in Florida soon is the only one to have survived to this day. Experts say it could sell for more than $10 million.

For eight decades of its life, the car had stayed in California. The list of owners includes collectors and celebrities, who made sure to treat it with the respect it deserved. However, someone down the line decided to finish the entire body in red. The original silvery blue shade was only restored in the 2000s.

Powering the vintage ride is a 4.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with three carburetors and 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW). The four-speed transmission is manual and features an unusual switching mechanism: you can select any gear, but the switching will only occur as soon as you foot the clutch pedal. Brakes all around are drum-based.

Talbot-Lago was a carmaker in 1916 through 1959. It produced a few memorable cars in its era, and this specific vehicle was offered for 78,000 Francs without the bodywork (chassis only). The iconic Bugatti Type 57S cost the same.
