Tank 300 hits the road with a V6 under the hood

A camouflaged prototype of a new Tank 300 SUV with a 3.0-liter V6 under the hood have leaked online. The engine could be good for 360 horsepower or close.

Exterior changes are minimal. Compared to the model currently on sale in China (see video), the new spec rides on different wheels wrapped in off-road tires and has a few orange accents in the cabin. You can find them on the seats, the door panels, and around the gear selector.

As for the transmission itself, it is rumored to be nine-speed automatic. The automaker could borrow the engine from the upmarket Tank 500 model, in which case it would produce 360 PS (355 hp / 272 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. The actual specifications have not been revealed yet, though.

What also remains unknown is the AWD implementation the new Tank 300 will get. Right now, the SUV is obtainable in part-time AWD form either with a hard coupling on the front axle or with an electromagnetic coupling.
