V6-powered Tank 300 gets the green light in China

Chinese off-roader specialist Tank has successfully obtained the certificates necessary to launch another version of its model named 300. According to CarNewsChina, the new spec trades its usual 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine for a superior 3.0-liter V6 like the one used in the Tank 500.

A while ago, the company pre-registered a vehicle called ‘Tank 330’ with up to 360 PS (355 hp / 265 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. It remains to be seen whether the V6-powered 300 will be called 330 or something different.

Based on the three images published thus far, the new model will look different from the original 300 model (see photos 4–11 and the video). It will gain a brush guard, a new hood with a large air intake, redesigned fender flares, special roof rails and a pronounced spoiler where the tailgate meets the roof.

Paying a premium will get you wheels with beadlock protection and a hood with a motordome, but no ‘nostril’. The suspension springs also seem different, but the details aren’t available.

The new Tank SUV is sized 4,772 x 1,970 x 1,960 mm large with 2,750 mm between the axles. It has an approach angle of 36 degrees, a departure angle of 37 degrees and a max wading depth of 900 mm (2 feet 11 inches).

Sales are expected to start in the first half of 2024 with the base price at 350,000 Yuan or so.
