2026 Tank 400 goes on sale in China

Great Wall group automaker Tank has officially launched the refreshed model 400 that it only announced last month. The SUV is now available with only two powertrains, both of them hybrid, and costs from 309,800 to 329,800 CNY, a 15,000-CNY bump from before the facelift.

The simpler Hi4-T spec incorporates a 2.0-liter engine and an electric motor. Their combined output now amounts to 421 PS (415 hp / 310 kW) – that’s 13 hp or 10 kilowatts better than in the old version. The torque remains capped at 750 Nm (560 lb-ft).

Outfitted like this, the new Tank 400 Hi4-T sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.8 seconds instead of its predecessor’s 6.9. It still runs out of juice after 105 km (65 miles) in all-electric mode.

Should that not be enough for you, the Hi4-Z spec takes things much farther with its dual e-motors. The gas engine stays the same, but the motors drive up the combined output to impressive 863 PS (851 hp / 635 kW). The torque is just as solid at 1,194 Nm (881 lb-ft). The launch succeeds in 4.3 seconds, and the all-electric range goes up to 200 km (124 miles) thanks to a bigger 59.05-kWh battery pack.

Aside from these improvements under the hood, the facelifted Tank 400 boasts a more rectangular-looking front bumper and a redesigned radiator grille. It has a revised transmission tunnel without the mode selector and a 15.6-inch infotainment system running on Snapdragon 8295 hardware and third-gen Coffee OS. The company points out various ADAS improvements.
