Tata shows two unusual concept SUVs at the Auto Expo 2020

The leading Indian car manufacturer naturally could not ignore the domestic auto show in New Delhi, so it came there with a plethora of vehicles, including two interesting new concepts called HBX and Sierra EV.

The HBX is essentially an evolutionary step ahead from last year’s H2X Concept. Judging by its production-ready looks, it might as well go on sale later this year. It looks like an SUV version of the Tata Altroz hatchback and comes powered by a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, non-turbo engine rated at 86 hp (64 kW) and 113 Nm (83 lb-ft). Transmission can be five-speed manual or five-speed semi-automatic.

As for the Tata Sierra, an SUV by that name used to come out in 1991 through 2000. Its EV successor is electric and offers around 400 kilometers (250 miles) of range. It is 4,150 mm (13.62 ft.) long, 1,820 mm (5.97 ft.) wide and 1,675 mm (5.41 ft.) tall with 2,450 mm (8.04 ft.) between the axles. The company says it initially intends to resurrect the gasoline and diesel Sierras first, followed by the Sierra EV next year.

This would not be the first electric car with a Tata badge on it: the Nexon EV is already on the market, and the Altroz EV is coming soon.
