A number of news media have quoted Tesla CEO Elon Musk saying the all-electric car marque’s first pickup truck would be priced under U.S. $50,000. If true, this would make it one of the most affordable Tesla cars on offer.
The large truck will sport a futuristic appearance and a double crew cab with seats for up to six passengers. Regardless of your chosen trim version, it will ship with an all-wheel drive system and two electric motors that Elon says will produce ‘crazy torque.’ Once fully charged, the driving range would be somewhere in the 650 – 800 kilometer (400 – 500 mile) area.
By default, all pickups will ship with adaptive suspension that will automatically fine-tune its stiffness depending on the current load. Options will include a 360-degree camera view system, Tesla’s trademark autopilot feature, and a parallel park assist.
The company’s latest released vehicle was the Model Y, a compact e-SUV based on the Model 3. It currently retails for U.S. $39,000 and above.
