A software update will be issued in August 2019 for all Tesla EVs adding Netflix and YouTube video streaming services to the list of features. The statement stems from company founder Elon Musk himself.
The cars will be able to play back videos in fullscreen mode, and Musk claims the experience will be theater-like thanks to the 3D audio system and comfortable seats. Needless to say, the feature only works when the car is parked, but this may change if (or, rather, when) SAE Level 5 self-driving tech reaches the market.
Chances are good that Tesla is actively trying to rescue its financial situation by introducing free new features. In Q2 2019, the company’s losses hit the rock bottom at 408,000,000 USD. Elon Musk remains optimistic, though, promising to reverse the downward trend in the Q3.
