Tesla car access app goes down for several hours

Multiple Tesla EV drivers have complained about being unable to get inside their car due to login troubles in their Tesla mobile app. Several complaints were posted on downdetector.com.

According to a man from the USA, the app suddenly stopped working early in the morning, and he called Tesla customer support for help. No one has answered within 30 minutes – whether because the call was made at 4:30 AM local time or for some other reason. As a result, he has spent half an hour standing next to his unresponsive EV, unable to get in.

That notwithstanding, the problem may be blown out of proportion, since Tesla always provides an access card with every EV it sells (key fob is a paid option). The only scenario in which the owner may find him/herself unable to get in is when he/she leaves his/her card and/or key fob at one location and then drives to another.

The issue seems currently resolved, but there is no guarantee that it does not crop up again at an unexpected moment. Tesla refrains from commenting. This makes us wonder: maybe next time, calling a hacker for help would make more sense than waiting for the customer support to respond? We are not advocating any illegal actions here, but, judging by the video, hijacking your Tesla may be not that hard.
