Tesla launches several contact-free car delivery options in the USA

To minimize exposure to other people during the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak, the North American EV maker is offering its clients a number of ways to buy cars remotely in 13 U.S. states.

The approach was first tested in China and proved to be working. One of your options is called Tesla Direct Drop: you order a car online, place an electronic signature on the documents, and get your car delivered to your place. Once it arrives, you unlock the door using the Tesla mobile app and find papers inside that you need to fill out and mail to the seller to finalize the transaction.

A second option is Express Delivery: you order a car via the Internet, turn up at a drop location, identify yourself and get access to a parking lot and the coordinates of your car there. Inside, you find papers that you fill out and hand over to a Tesla employee before driving away.

Yet another opportunity is called Tesla Direct: you order home delivery and hand the documents over to a Tesla salesperson upon receipt.

The fourth and final option is called Carrier Direct. It is designed for people living more than 135 miles (220 km) away from the nearest Tesla dealership. The basic routine is the same, but the car is delivered via a tow truck.
