Elon Musk’s Las Vegas Hyperloop tunnel ends up frustrating everyone, here’s why

As you may have heard, The Boring Company headed by CEO Elon Musk launched the Hyperloop rapid transit tunnel under Las Vegas a few days ago. The eccentric billionaire assured us that the unique transportation system would make EV owners very happy, but reality seems to have taught everyone a harsh lesson.

When the construction works began two years ago, Musk said people would be able to get from point A to Point B at 200 km/h (125 miles per hour), no restrictions. At the launch date, however, the luckiest of those who had managed to squeeze their way into the Hyperloop made 60 km/h (37 mph) due to a massive traffic jam in the tunnel. Witnesses say the cars were jammed inside like a bunch of sardines in a barrel.

Despite the failed launch, The Boring Company maintains an optimistic tone, claiming that the system can be modified to carry 4,400 passengers per hour. The only caveat is that the tunnel would have to be slightly widened, something that might not work out after all because construction costs exceed a billion U.S. dollars per mile.
