Tesla FSD Beta details leak online

Teslarati has published data about the impending software update for all autonomy-capable Tesla cars. Called the Full Self-Driving Beta 10.5, it seems to address erroneous emergency braking and other issues.

According to the poster, the new software is currently being tested on the car fleet belonging to Tesla employees. Among other things, the cars can now automatically perform overtaking maneuvers by changing lanes after approaching a slow-moving car in their current lane. Earlier versions just defaulted to moving slower.

Scanning for and identifying static objects such as traffic signs, cones and road markings has also been improved through the training of a neural network on tens of thousands of videos. Object matching precision grew by 4.5% and object remembering precision by 10.4%.

Enhanced object detection has reportedly minimized cases of erroneous braking before pedestrians, cyclists and bikers. The cars now have a much better sense of road limits in sharp curves, which lets them pass these curves with greater precision. Monitoring the situation in adjacent lanes is also improved, because the Autopilot can now choose to pull forward a bit to get a better view. Advanced navigation logic keeps the EV on course more reliably than before.

To improve safety, Tesla cars will now calculate the risks based on the potential objects invisible to their on-board electronic systems. Moving object recognition and driver-friendly behavior have also been revised, according to Teslarati.
