Tesla Inc. will be holding its annual Investor Day on March 1, 2023, and Auto Express believes that the company will be announcing its wallet-friendliest electric car so far while discussing the general development strategy.
Speaking in an interview as far back as 2018, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said a sub-$25,000 battery car was coming to the market. Fast-forward five years, and the model has yet to be introduced. During a recent conference call with the analysts, Musk let it slip that, having finished engineering the Cybertruck and the Semi, the company switched to designing a next-generation EV running on an affordable platform.
There are unofficial reports that the car in question is a 4.4-meter (14.5-foot) long hatchback. A sketch released by the Chinese branch of Tesla around three years ago (the second pic in the gallery below) may have been it, although there has been no official confirmation. The sketch depicted what looked very much like a downsized Model Y (watch the video and compare if interested).
