Shortly after dismissing several hundred employees from its Supercharger division, Tesla Inc. has reportedly begun calling them back – with mixed success so far.
It came as a surprise earlier this month when the electric car manufacturer got rid of its entire 500-person Supercharger department. Among those fired were its boss, Rebecca Tinucci, and Director of Charging North America, Max de Zegher.
Following an uproar on the social media, Elon Musk rushed in to disprove that the whole division was shutting down. He stressed that it was crucial for the company “despite the layoffs” and noted that it was about to receive $500,000,000 in investment this year.
Well, it now appears as though someone had a temper tantrum and got rid of too many employees at once, some of them critical for the project. De Zegher agreed to return to his office, while Tinucci was emphatic about not having anything to do with Supercharger anymore, Reuters reports.
