Tesla teases Model Y, fails to reveal much at all

Tesla Motors has published a teaser image of its forthcoming compact SUV model, the Tesla Model Y. Regrettably, the photo is way too blurry to actually see anything.

The electric vehicle will debut in spring 2019 at the earliest and enter production in 2020 if all goes well.

tesla representatives have pointed out earlier that the design of the new crossover/SUV model will be inspired by that of its senior sibling, the Model X. Too bad we cannot even comment on this due to how poor the images thus far provided are.

Assembly of the environment-friendly Tesla Model Y will take place in one of the company’s U.S.-based works. Prices will start at no lower than 45,000 USD for the low-end model.

The car will feature Tesla’s trademark “falcon-wing” doors and two electric engines (one per axle). Battery capacity will depend on the particular trim level you choose. Performance data will be disclosed later.

After the Tesla Model Y, the company expects to switch its full attention to the Semi truck and the next-gen Roadster supercar. Aside from the above, it also considers releasing a pick-up truck and a minivan.
