In a recent post, Elon Musk has promised to preserve the instantly recognizable looks of the Tesla Cybertruck pickup in its mass-market version, and added that it would support 4WS.
According to Musk, the concept will stay unchanged overall, with the final version of the car only sporting minor deviations from the original design, mostly where such deviations are mandatory to make it road-legal. This is reassuring news, because nothing had been heard from the company for a while, and rumors started spreading that the dimensions and the styling of the Cybertruck were being reconsidered from the ground up.
Four-wheel steering should ensure good maneuverability and confident cornering for the Cybertruck, perhaps even enabling it to crawl sideways like the GMC Hummer EV can.
The production start remains scheduled for late this year, but Tesla still hasn’t premiered the new version of the pickup, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see it being late yet again.
