Mattel reveals Tesla Cybertruck construction set, complete with broken glass

Toymaker Mattel has announced a $250 DIY scale model of the Tesla Cybertruck, which consists of over 3,000 parts. Apart from looking more detailed than the real thing, the toy pickup doesn’t shun from having a good laugh at Elon Musk’s infamous presentation fiasco.

As you may remember, when Tesla CEO unveiled the Cybertruck, he wanted to make a point about its windows being bulletproof and had a metal ball thrown at them twice. The windows shattered on both attempts, and while Musk did not comment on the incident, he was visibly annoyed with the failure. Now, the important thing to realize is that Tesla officially approved the scale model into production, so the quasi-broken glass you see here was probably a cleverly self-ironic PR move.

Elsewhere, the replica has a lifting tonneau cover, opening doors, removable glass, and adjustable suspension. It is called ‘Mega X Cybertruck’ and comes in at around 18 inches (450 mm) long.

The real Cybertruck will not hit production until at least 2023, with a presentation scheduled to take place next year.
