A recent video allegedly filmed from a quadcopter hovering over Tesla HQ in Fremont shows a pre-production Cybertruck pickup driven round after round on uneven surfaces.
The obstacles include speed bumps, wavy concrete surfaces and rippled tarmac. A road sign says the top speed is supposed to be capped at 8 mph (13 km/h). It may not look like it from bird’s-view perspective, but the bumps actually seem rather tall and challenging to pass.
In all likelihood, this is how Tesla tests the comfort level offered by the suspension, its durability and life and any assembly defects. When a car is poorly put together at the factory, it usually starts screeching and making other unwanted sounds after some off-road driving. It is also a cornering test of sorts, as the driver has limited turning space. Tesla claims the Cybertruck will ship with four-wheel steering included in the base spec, but in the video, the bulky EV still comes across as clumsy.
