Tesla Cybertruck spied rolling around on steelies

Tesla has been testing a weird Cybertruck version lately, with sensors all around the body and a very basic-looking set of stamped wheels. Then again, users of the Cybertruck Owners Club website are telling us the company had merely tried to see how well the suspension performed and was not going to put such wheels on the production truck.

The images show a Cybertruck loaded with telemetry hardware. The photographer says there were also sensors installed at the wheels, but they aren’t visible here.

In all likelihood, the automaker is trying to measure the loads exerted on the wheels in all directions during driving. The data thus gathered will help it fine-tune the chassis and suspension. The odds of such low-end stamped wheels making it to the market are minimal.
