Rumor: Tesla Cybertruck scheduled to go on sale this fall

Tesla plans to unveil the pilot batch of Cybertruck pickups in late summer this year, Electrek reports referencing the automaker’s correspondence with EV part vendors. Full-scale production is expected to start in late September.

If the reports are true, the pickup will arrive earlier than planned (end of 2023) and in a larger production volume. The company had said earlier that it wanted to start with 250,000 annual trucks produced and gradually ramp up the production to 500,000 units. The new reports are claiming that Tesla has been sending notifications to the vendors telling them to get ready for 375,000 units in the first production year.

It is possible that the automaker decided to accelerate the manufacturing after sitting on hundreds of thousands of pre-orders. Per InsideEVs, Tesla has already received 1.5 million reservations for the Cybertruck with some customers ordering not one, but between 2 and 10 pickups. It remains to be seen how the company’s plans will play out, however.
