Giorgetto Giugiaro, 85, a worldwide famous engineer and bearer of the title ‘Automotive Designer of the Century’, said he was certain that the Tesla Cybertruck would find warm reception with its target audience. He emphasized that the society has always looked at drastically different cars as deliberately provocative, even when it was not necessarily the case.
Giugiaro has penned such iconic designs as the Delorean DMC-12, Saab 9000, Lancia Delta, BMW M1, Bizzarrini Manta, Hyundai Pony, and VW Golf GTI.
Like the DeLorean Time Machine from the movie Back to the Future, the all-electric Cybertruck sports a bodywork of naked stainless steel. There are other design similarities, but they are mostly superficial. Still, some fans of the time travel trilogy like drawing comparisons between the two, calling the Cybertruck a modern rendition of the Time Machine.
