Meet the Aitekx Robotruck, a custom EV totally not ripping off the Tesla Cybertruck

California-based company Aitekx has announced pre-orders for an all-electric pickup named the Robotruck. Judging by the provided renderings and early prototype shots, someone has been hungry for a slice of the Cybertruck’s pie.

The two cyberpunk-inspired cars share the overall design, the metallic exterior finish and the bed layout. The Robotruck has more intricately sculpted sides, E-shaped headlights and doors that rise slightly to open. The company calls them ‘hawk doors’, likely because ‘falcon doors’ is a registered trademark owned by Tesla.

The vehicle is 5,030 mm (16.5 feet) long with 1,859 mm (72.6 inches) of bed width. You can remove the partition separating the cabin from the bed and drop the tailgate to transport cargo up to 3.5 meters (11.5 feet) long. Different cab types are available with up to six seats, and a special off-road-focused version is coming, too.

Last but not least, Aitekx promises a variety of electric powertrains for the Robotruck. Their detailed specifications remain to be revealed. The company says simply that the flagship spec will be able to go 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) in 3.5 seconds and max out at 265 km/h (165 mph). Once fully charged, the longest-range version is expected to have up to 885 km (550 miles) of range.

Prices lie within the range of $45,000–90,000. A similar-looking SUV is in development, too. According to Electrek, which has snapped these photos at the LA Auto Show, the build quality suggests that the production is still a long way off.
