Just before unveiling its overdue Cybertruck pickup, Tesla Inc. has stopped taking orders for it on its official website. You can no longer leave a $100 deposit to be added to the queue. The reveal event will take place at the Gigafactory Texas later today.
Judging by the open crowdfunding data, the manufacturer has managed to amass more than 2.1 million orders for the Cybertruck following its announcement four years ago. It means the company has earned roughly $210 million without selling a single truck.
The company expects to produce between 250,000 and 500,000 vehicles pet year, so even just delivering in all the pre-orders is going to take it a few years – unless many buyers withdraw their money.
Neither the full specifications nor the pricing have been revealed yet. All we know is that there will be multiple versions to choose from, including a flagship spec.
