The production version of Tesla’s long-awaited Cybertruck pickup has hit the spotlight at the company’s factory in Austin, TX. The first 10 customers who left a pre-order – all Tesla employees – took hold of their cars, and the key specifications were announced along with prices.
Starting with the flagship version, it is called Cyberbeast and packs three electric motors developing a combined 857 PS (845 hp / 630 kW). It sprints 0-96.6 km/h (0-60 mph) in 2.6 seconds and has 515 km (320 miles) of range per charge. It also commands a $99,990 starting price.
The middle spec uses two e-motors and makes roughly 608 PS (600 hp / 373 kW). It takes 4.1 seconds to launch and offers superior 547 km (340 miles) of range – possibly thanks to lower power consumption. The price is $79,990 before options.
Finally, the base spec has a 6.5-second sprint time and starts from $60,990. The power and torque remain to be revealed. The battery size is a major letdown here: once fully charged, the pickup only has 402 km (250 miles) of range until it runs dry.
Full-scale production has yet to start, with Elon Musk promising to launch it in several months. The base version will be the last to ship sometime in 2025.
