Tesla Model 3 gets updated for 2021

Tesla has spruced up its affordable Model 3 heading into new year, landing it with minimal stylistic and considerable technical improvements.

There are new 17- and 18-inch wheels to choose between, a redesigned center console, enhanced noise proofing, double side windows, powered trunk lid, and a more efficient heat pump instead of the old ‘heater oven’.

The Long Range spec now runs 30 miles (48 km) longer on a single charge, the total range amounting to 353 miles (568 km). The Standard Range Plus gains 12 miles (20 km) and is therefore capable of 261 miles (420 km). The Performance spec gains 16 miles (26 km) and now runs 313 miles (504 kilometers) at most without recharging.

The top-of-the-line Tesla Model 3 Performance keeps its 462 metric horsepower (456 hp / 340 kW) rating intact, but still manages to accelerate faster than its predecessor did. Specifically, it now needs 3.1 seconds instead of 3.2 to get from standstill to 60 miles per hour (0-97 km/h).
