Tesla will be exporting the Model 3 sedans produced at its Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai, China, to ten countries across Europe starting later this month.
Until recently, EU-spec Teslas used to be assembled from U.S.-made components in a small factory in Netherlands that has been open for seven years now. The company has no plans to expand that production site, however, because it is building the Gigafactory 4 in Berlin, Germany. The fourth Tesla factory will localize the production of cars, batteries and electric engines at one site. The Netherlands factory can apparently no longer satisfy the growing demand, so Shanghai will keep exporting the Model 3 to Europe until the Berlin factory launches.
According to its annual plan, the Gigafactory 3 has 150,000 vehicles to produce in 2020.
