A number of Indian media have unofficially quoted Transportation Minister Nitin Gadkari saying that Tesla would enter the country’s market next year, along with opening maintenance centers.
Rumor has it that Elon Musk is considering bringing only the most affordable Model 3 to India right now. The company will likely sell cars directly, like it does on other markets.
Another quote attributed to Gadkari is that Tesla may localize production in the country if the initial sales launch proves a success.
