While Tesla continues to feed us with promises regarding its Cybertruck pickup, a girl from Los Angeles, CA built her own Tesla truck based on her Model 3 sedan. But that was four years ago, and we have now learned new details about that project.
Presenting its homegrown Truckla in 2019, Simone Giertz claimed it was a completed project. She has now admitted to have embellished the truth a bit: back when it debuted, the car was apparently only around 80% complete. Little had changed over the years, either, until she resolved to send the car to her friends for some final touches.
Thanks to these friends, the Truckla finally received a fully functional tailgate (the old one was fixed and a pain to remove every time), raised suspension and a solid exterior finish. In turn, Giertz, who is a fan of robots, spent the time devising an autonomous mobile charger for her improvised truck.
In the video, the charger manages to approach the car, plug in and start charging on its very first attempt – but not before spending an embarrassingly long time doing ambiguous, increasingly intense thrusting movements in front of the charging port. So make sure you don’t watch this video at work, it might be not safe!
