Tesla hopes to ramp up its production volumes considerably by the end of the decade, 36 Krypton reports citing anonymous sources claiming that the company expects to be making 4,000,000 units of its provisionally called ‘Model 2’ EV per year by 2030.
These insiders, who allegedly work at one of the vendor companies supplying Tesla Inc. with components, claim that Elon Musk wants to produce his most mass-market-friendly car yet in multiple locations around the world at once. These reportedly include the Gigafactories in Berlin and Shanghai, as well as the still-to-be-constructed industrial complex in Mexico. Interestingly enough, the United States are missing from the list.
Overall, the company hopes to be selling around 20,000,000 cars per year by the late 2020s. Rumors indicate that the combined production capacities of all Tesla factories currently cover only 10% of that – just 2,000,000 units under full load.
While the purported Tesla Model 2 is still unannounced, the Model 3 remains the company’s most budget-friendly option for sporty EV enthusiasts worldwide. You will find it in the gallery and the video below.
