Tesla produces 1,000,000 EVs in 200 days

Tesla Inc. has reported producing its 5,000,000th electric vehicle this weekend. It took the company 15 years to get there, but the last million was made within mere 200 days.

On March 1, 2023, Tesla announced having made 4,000,000 electric cars. In the six months that followed, its production rate averaged at 3.4 cars per minute.

The anniversary vehicle is a 2024 Tesla Model 3 made in Shanghai – the only factory at the moment producing the facelift saloon. The automaker has three factories in the United States and one in Germany, and is planning on opening Gigafactories in India and/or Mexico.

CEO Elon believes his business is on track to producing a total of 20,000,000 EVs by the end of the decade.
