A court in Florida has ruled that Tesla Inc. led by CEO Elon Musk was fully aware of the company’s driving assist system, stubbornly misrepresented as the “Autopilot”, being unsafe to use – and yet allowed its electric cars to rely on it.
The news comes from Reuters. Apparently, judge Reid Scott wrote that the plaintiff in the fatal crash involving a Tesla Model 3 is entitled to sue Tesla for negligence and intentional damage. The post went viral on the Internet, provoking a vivid discussion.
The original litigation arose from a deadly crash in Florida in 2019. Back then, a Tesla Model 3 with its Autopilot feature on failed to detect a truck in the way and collided with it, leaving the driver with no chance of survival.
